Wingerworth

Overview

Wingerworth is a semi rural village located 2 miles from Chesterfield town centre. It houses multiple independent shops such as cafes, a beauty salon, local chip shop and has two convenience stores. It is home to two primary schools, both of which received a ‘Good‘ rating from Ofsted. With open countryside just a stones throw away from your future home Wingerworth is the place to be.

 

Transport

Wingerworth has good transport links into Chesterfield and it also has a bus service that goes into Matlock which is handy if you fancy a change. From Wingerworth you can be in the heart of the Peak District in under 30 minutes via car. We recommend you call off at the Chatsworth Farm Shop for some local produce  or pop into Bakewell to try their famous Bakewell Pudding! Chesterfield train station is only is only a 15 minute drive via car so this is very convenient if you commute.

 

Schools

In Wingerworth there are two primary schools and two nursery’s. Deer Park Primary School and Hunloke Park Primary School both received rating of ‘Good’ from Ofsted. For younger children there is ‘Wingerworth Wonder Years’ and ‘New Road Nursery’. 

 

Amenties

In Wingerworth there are multiple independent businesses from Billy Joes and Arkadia Too for hairdressers, Miss T’s Tea Room and Figaro for cafes along with a local fish and chip shop. There are two parks in the village one being ‘The Deer Park’ and the other being ‘Chartwell Park’ which are lovely to walk the dog around or to feed the ducks! There is also a doctors surgery and chemist in the village located near the shops. If you are feeling peckish there are three fantastic pubs to choose from, with The Hunloke Arms, The Barley Mow and The Smithy Pond, all offering a variety of tasty food. 

 

Things to do

In the summer time the village hold a village fun day and also host a village scarecrow competition which is fun for all the family. On certain Saturdays in the spring/summer you can spectate and watch local teams play cricket on The Deer Park. There are also lots of nice walks in the area to take in the lovely views, take a walk around Stubbing Court Pond and see what wildlife you can spot, you could even call off for a nice pub lunch at the local pub afterwards!
