Tupton

Overview

Tupton is a village and civil parish 4.5 miles south of Chesterfield and 1 mile north of Clay Cross, and is split into Old and New Tupton. The village has several shops, cafes and pubs and also benefits from a Doctors surgery, pharmacy and Village Hall . With easy access to both Chesterfield and Clay Cross town centres and beyond Tupton is therefore popular with families.

Transport

There are regular buses which run around Tupton going into the town centres and to further districts. The A61 Derby Road is a busy bus and transport route and runs from Chesterfield to Alfreton, through Tupton.

Ashover Road is a good road network from the village  towards Ashover and the Peak District. There are also good link roads from the bottom of Tupton  that lead towards junction 29 of the M1 Motorway.

Chesterfield train station can be easily accessed from the village.

Schools

There are two schools in Tupton, Tupton Hall School, which has a well regarded and successful sixth form and Tupton Primary and Nursery Academy.

Amenities

With the pubs, cafes and shops within the village itself, and Clay Cross only 1 mile away with its numerous independent retailers, there is plenty of choice locally.

Within the village, you'll find a handy Morrisons Daily store for all the essentials, Tupton Pharmacy and Tupton Surgery, all within walking distance from eachother. There are aks multiple dental practices nearby in Clay Cross.

Things to do

Go for a relaxing walk through the Avenue Washlands nature reserve or through Alton to Ashover Rock and take in the fantastic panoramic views. Afterwards perhaps drop into one of the nearby cafes or bars when finished for a drink or bite to eat.

The Hunloke Arms prides itself on offering 'seriously good food and a huge range of drinks', and we definitely agree with that statement!

Tupton Recreation Ground is home to Tupton Rugby Club with both senior and junior teams, New Tupton Ivanhoe Football Club, which is a junior club, and Tupton RUFC CC, as well as being great for enjoying or walking the dog. Kenning Park at Clay Cross is also nearby and boasts a fishing lake.
